Robert Baker

Robert N. Baker was born May 1, 1942, in Palmyra, North Carolina. Robert peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 8, 2021.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Josephine Baker; two brothers, Albert and James Baker; sister, Bertha Mae B. Weathersbee, and son, Robert A. Baker.

Robert accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Roanoke Zion Baptist Church in Palmyra, North Carolina. Robert was educated in the North Carolina Public School System.

Robert united with Peace Baptist Church on March 27, 2005, and was later ordained as a Deacon. He also served as a member of Share Food Ministry, Sons of Peace, and the Transportation Ministry for fifteen years. Robert had compassion for driving and could give you directions to anywhere you wanted to go.

Robert was a lover of cars and admired for his cars to be shiny and clean. He was the 1st African American to be hired as a Vault Manager for Dunbar Armored Company in Maryland. During his tenure there, he was often chosen as employee of the month for being the “neatest and cleanest.”

Robert was loved by many and was admired for being dependable and helpful. He believed in doing things the right way. His favorite saying was “WAIT ON THE LORD.” His favorite songs were “For Your Tears I Died” and “Jesus Will Fix It For Me” by Rev. F.C. Barnes.

Robert leaves to cherish his wife, Camilla Baker of 53 years; three daughters: Jacqueline (Michelle) Baker, Shirley Rousseau, and Eve Williams; one grand-daughter, Amber Baker; two grandsons, Mikell and Isaiah Stafford and one great-grandson, Jair Mikell Stafford.

He also leaves his sister; Mary Baker, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews, family and friends.
