Michelle Arnold
Michelle Antionette Arnold was born on November 19, 1973 to Bevelon Grier and the late Michael O Grier. She was baptized at Holy Angels Church in Chicago, Illinois by Father George Clements. Michelle received her high school diploma from Maria High School in Chicago, Illinois, her Associate’s degree in elementary education at Richard Daley College and her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Saint Xavier University. Upon graduation, Michelle became a certified teacher (Pre-K through 3rd) and worked as a second-grade teacher at Rosenwald Elementary School in Chicago. She also joined the Lambda Mu Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in March 2000, where she enjoyed serving the community and volunteering. Michelle went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Library/Media Services from Chicago State University in 2009.
In 2005, she met the love of her life, Omar Arnold. The couple married on August 14, 2010, and she relocated to Washington, D.C. While living in D.C. she worked as a certified library/media specialist (Pre-K through 12) at Garfield and Kenilworth Elementary Schools in Washington, DC, South County High School in Fairfax, Virginia, and Matthew Maury Elementary School in Alexandria. She also transferred her AKA membership to Xi Omega chapter and would attend chapter events when she was able. She had completed her PhD coursework in Educational Leadership and was in the dissertation writing and research portion when she passed away suddenly on February 6th, 2020.
She leaves behind her husband Omar Arnold, mother Bevelon Grier, mother-in-law Cynthia Walker, brother Michael O Grier, Jr., brother-in-law Andre Christopher Brown Arnold, sister-in-law Jeanette Grier, god-daughter Ebony Simms, and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
