Linda Chambers

Linda Chambers

Linda Frances Chambers arrived on October 3, 1947 in Washington, DC. The eldest of two daughters born to Eulouse and Carrie Lee Chambers.

A hard-working, industrious young woman, she embarked on her career journey at the Red Cross, ending at Gallaudet University from which she retired with over thirty years of service.

Always the innovator, a showstopper she would never be caught without her finery, a ‘pretty dress ‘and her trademark red lipstick. ‘Tender Linda’ or ‘Honey Jar’ as she was affectionately known, loved to cook, her seafood salads and banana puddings were especially famous. Oldies but Goodies’ music was a constant in her life. Hand-dancing’ was a favorite and she was often the first one on the dance floor. Linda was a social butterfly, the life of the party. In 1982 along with her best girlfriends, she became a founding member of ‘The Juicy Social Club.’

She embraced life, cruising to new tropical destinations was a beloved pastime of hers. Although, spending time with her family and friends is what she enjoyed most. The matriarch, she gave love and was well loved in return. Linda’s laughter, her joy, and most assuredly her style will forever be missed and she will forever be cherished.

Not everyone truly lives, Linda did. She lived fully, exceptionally, gloriously.

Our dear Linda was preceded in death by her parents Eulouse and Carrie Lee Chambers, her sister Louvenia Margo Thomas and her grandson Cordaro Pierre Chambers. She leaves behind to carry on her memory, her devoted children; Quinzella, Angelina, LaShonda and Frank Chambers, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of extended family and friends.

The Homegoing services for Linda Chambers were held at Peace Baptist Church on May 25, 2021.
