Elnora Pernell Harper

April 19, 1932 – March 16, 2021

Elnora Pernell Edwards Harper (affectionally known as “Nell”) was born on April 19, 1932 in Snow Hill, NC to the late Walter David and Rosetta Edwards. Nell transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal resting place with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 16, 2021.

Her formative years were spent in Greene County, NC where she attended Green County Training School and graduated in 1950. She continued her education at North Carolina A&T College in Durham, NC and received a Certificate of Dressmaking and Tailoring in 1954. During high school, she met the love of her life, Carl Arnold Harper. On June 12, 1954, Carl and Nell married in Snow Hill, NC. From this union, three children were born.

She was a dedicated member of both the GCTS-SGHS National Alumni Association Inc. and the DC-Metro Chapter of the Alumni Association since April of 1977. She became a member of Peace Baptist Church in Washington, DC over 50 years ago where she attended regularly until she stopped driving. Nell was a very kindhearted, caring and giving person.

Nell leaves to cherish in her memory her two daughters, a son, son-in-law, grandchildren, a sister and brother, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Arnold Harper, two sisters and two brothers.

Service will be held on Saturday, April 03, 2021
