Obituary

Gladys Thompson, daughter of the late Homer and Marie Thompson, was born February 29, 1932 in Washington D.C. She transitioned to her heavenly home on January 25, 2021.

She had a strong faith and was a believer of God. As a member of Peace Baptist Church, she served on the usher board and taught Sunday School to children.

After graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Washington D.C, Gladys went on to work for the Coast Guard and Navy Yard as a supervisor for the Department of Transportation. Gladys was a natural traveler that loved being on the road and exploring new states and cities whether it was to California, Ohio, Florida, the Carolinas (North Carolina and South Carolina), or Canada. She would often take her family members with her on the road to see other family members that lived near and far.

Loved ones to Gladys knew that she loved her dog “Jackie” dearly and loved baking for others. It is told her delicious chocolate cake with vanilla frosting has brought many smiles to members of her family, her community, and her church family,

She leaves to cherish her memory- her sister, Margaret Green; niece, Arminta Thompson-Smith; nephews, Alfonso Carter, James Carter, Larry Green, Antonio Thompson, and D’amico Thompson along with a host of relatives and friends.
